This final gallery at JORVIK reveals "The End of the Vikings?". It takes a look at the final battles of the Viking period in York which signalled the end of the Viking Age and the coming of the Normans. Skeletal remains showing battle wounds and a full skeleton with evidence of severe trauma are placed on display and discussed in terms of what science can tell us about how they died. This gallery also discusses the legacy of the Vikings and mix of cultures that survived in York after the Viking Age ended in 1066.
