harvest fair Harvest Home
10am – 5pm. Charge for refreshments
Visit our tavern for traditional refreshments. Tales in the tavern at 11am and 2.30pm. Crafting sessions for kids 11am – 4pm.

31 October
*Medieval Mysteries
7pm. £7.50 / £6 conc. Includes a glass of mulled wine.

Enter if you dare! Flickering candles and ghostly tales with a few surprises. Visitors to Barley Hall will be invited to assist a medievalist in solving a dark riddle from the past. But beware - dabbling with a grimoire on Halloween can only lead to trouble...!
 
'Medieval Mysteries' will include original drama commissioned especially for this evening, including a piece inspired by M R James, arguably the greatest author of ghost stories in the English language. Participants will hunt for clues around the Hall in an attempt to solve the mystery at the heart of the event.

27 – 30 November
craft fairSt Nicholas Fair Medieval Market
10am – 5pm. Admission £2 adult, £1 concessions, £5 family of four.
Medieval traders selling their crafts and wares – living history and unique presents. Traditional wine or ale at the bar.

December
Deck the Hall – a Medieval Christmas
Wednesday – Saturday 10am – 4pm
Experience the Hall decorated for Yuletide. Hear about the festive traditions at 11am and 2.30pm in the Great Hall.

6-7, 13-14 December
Christmas Fairs
10am – 5pm. Admission £2 adult, £1 concession, £5 family of four.
Unique Christmas presents and mulled wine in a serene festive setting. York’s Festival of Angels 13-14 December – Special entertainment.

27 November, 4,11 December
*Barley Hall by Candlelight
7pm £7.50 / £6 - BOOKING ESSENTIAL
Share a goblet of mulled wine with ‘Lord and Lady Snawsell’ in a festive atmosphere, with tales and music to entertain you into the night.
