DIG wins 'York Tourism Attraction
of the Year'
Top award for York's newest
attraction

Staff from DIG An Archaeological Adventure
are celebrating their success after scooping the prestigious
Attraction of the Year Award at the York Tourism
Awards on 10th November 2006. DIG beat off strong competition
from three other finalists from Yorks successful tourism
industry and the team are delighted.
Sarah Maltby, Head of Attractions said, We
are delighted by the prize and proud that the York Tourism
Awards panel have recognised the hard work from our team who
ensure that every visitor to DIG has an enjoyable and educational
experience. York has a heritage to be proud of and DIG offers
a fantastic opportunity for everyone to gain an understanding
of Yorks story through its archaeology. It is a great
achievement to win such a coveted award and it was wonderful
to be able to share in the celebrations.
DIG opened its doors in April 2006 and has been
a huge success with visitors who are delighted by their experience.
DIG is a world first and uses a range of innovative technologies
that bring alive the history of York. DIG is owned by York
Archaeological Trust, whose aim is to highlight the exceptional
importance of York's historic environment and to promote archaeology
of the highest possible standards in York, its region and
beyond.
