Outreach
We are offering schools two new
exciting opportunities to bring the past alive
in the classroom. These offer an excellent introduction
to a visit to JORVIK and/or DIG, or could be
used to enhance work following a visit.

Vikings! An interactive learning resource Vikings! brings together two remarkable projects,
Sagas & Sums and The World of the Vikings,
on one CD-ROM.
Sagas and Sums is an exciting
interactive learning experience, which enables children
to understand the Viking age. Sagas & Sums
includes a virtual archaeological dig where children
unearth finds from a "Mysterious Mound"
that was excavated just after the Second World War.
You can sift through soil samples and find artefacts
just like in a real dig.
The World of the Vikings contains
over 3,600 colour pictures of Viking sites and artefacts
and over 20 minutes of original video. The program
is organised into twelve thematic evidence boxes,
supported by a searchable database of learning objects.
The CD-ROM provides an understanding
of where the Vikings came from, where they are settled
and how they lived. Included on the CD-ROM are learning
guides for use in the classroom and at home.
