Battle
of Fulford Workshops Fulford Social Hall, School

There will be an dyeing and embroidery workshop taking
place alongside the sorting of thousands of finds from
the area of the 1066 battle at Fulford. There will be
experts on hand to advise and assist with these hands-on
activities. Material and refreshments will be for sale.

contest, vegetable crafting with a Viking twist! Create
a fun character from your own root vegetable, or just
'turnip' and use one of ours! Small charge for some
craft activities.
International Vikings! Festival Marquee, St Sampson's

See warriors from across the Viking world put to the
test in the Festival Trial of Strength. Which of the
warriors will you back to win the Viking strongman
title? Look out for leg-wrestling and lifting the
weights. Get a taste of Viking lands with some of
our international visitors. The Danish Seamen's Church
of Hull will be on hand to discuss their work and
to display a range of Scandinavian wares. The York
Anglo-Scandinavian Society (www.angloscan.org.uk)
will be selling a selection of their hand-made cards,
and will have a display of traditional crafts for
you to join in and enjoy! There will also be information
about how you can join the Society and support their
valuable work.
