The Hungate excavations incorporate many different facets of archaeological work from watching briefs and evaluations to full excavation, all of which culminates in the production of an archaeological report for each aspect.

Each separate archaeological report, once reviewed and passed by the City Archaeologist (City of York Council) and delivered to Hungate (York) Regeneration, will be posted here for all to access and download thus creating an expanding library of knowledge specific to the Hungate area.

Each archaeological report will in turn build upon previous relevant research questions to develop the overall research agenda so that the development of the Hungate area can be brought together as a complete identity.

Footage From The Trenches

DigHungate has been given full access to the video records that make up part of the site recording system and will be able to bring together footage of the archaeologists at work and the discoveries they make. This will range from the wide variety of work that archaeologists carry out to the artefacts that help bring to life the story of the past communities that used to live in the area. The videos will be posted here on a regular basis.
