Community Archaeology at Hungate

York Archaeological Trust is working with the Greater York Community Archaeology Project and the Hungate Community Trust to give people a chance to get involved with the archaeology taking place as part of the Hungate (York) Regeneration. There will be a number of opportunities:

  • Enrolling as a volunteer with the Hungate Community Trust Archaeology Group or the York Archaeological Trust Finds Team.
  • Bringing your school to visit the site and see how archaeology works close up (see Schools).
  • Holding open days and helping with exhibitions at the Hungate Dig HQ.

If you live locally, you can give a little time on a regular basis and you want to get involved as a volunteer, you should get in touch with the Community Archaeologist Jon Kenny:
