Types of Visit

Whether it has been five or fifteen years or even your first time to visit JORVIK, the JORVIK Viking Centre has something new for everyone.

JORVIK Viking Centre is renowned for the long wait to get in.
This is only the case however, during our busiest periods like school holidays.

Visitors can jump the queue by calling 01904 615505 to pre-book a visit – and get straight in! (A pre-booking fee applies.)

Opening times

JORVIK Viking Centre is open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm.

Over the Christmas period:
Closed 24/25/26th December
New Years Eve: 10am - 2pm (last admission)
New Years Day: 11am - 4pm (last admission)

To book a visit to JORVIK Viking Centre, it is recommended you pre-book by calling 01904 615505. This will entitle you to jump the queue during our busy periods as well as give you a specific time slot to visit. (A pre-booking fee applies.)

There is no discount for disabled visitors themselves, but carers or aides are admitted free of charge.

Why not visit our new sister attraction DIG – an Archaeological adventure and learn about the skills and techniques used by the archaeologists that discovered the city of JORVIK.

Never before have you been able to experience an archaeological adventure like this! Visitors of all ages are invited to grab their towels and get their hands dirty whist going on a fascinating archaeological exploration to unearth the secrets of York’s past from Roman times, through the Viking and Medieval ages to the Victorian period.

Where we are

JORVIK Viking Centre is located within the Coppergate Shopping Centre, York.

 

The nearest car park is the Castle car park just a 5 minute walk away, or use park and ride facilities. The bus stop on Tower Street is a two minute walk away.
